Cinderford 58

Blaydon 22

ALL season, Cinderford have been threatening to put in a big performance to kick start their season.

On Saturday it finally happened, with a tremendous nine-try success against their free-falling visitors from the north east, who have now lost their last five games.

Blaydon were the architects of their own downfall at times, repeatedly kicking away good possession.

Cinderford director of rugby Andy Deacon said: "We knew we had this in us and it's great to see all the moves developed in training finally come to fruition on the pitch. It's great for the guys and coaching staff.

"Even when Blaydon came back strongly at the start of the second half we still believed in ourselves."

The home side didn't have to wait long for their first try. In the second minute a driving maul powered over the line, but was deemed to have been held up. Cinderford moved the ball wide from the resulting 5m scrum and Rory Teague burst over.

Five minutes later Cinderford scored their best try of the match. A quickly taken line-out on halfway created a good attacking platform and Winchle and Teague exchanged passes before Winchle broke into space. Bozzard was up to support and release skipper Adam Nicholls for the touchdown.

Prop Joe Smart peeled off the back of a rolling maul for try number three, but Blaydon hit back with a couple of scores from Matthew Hall and winger David Clark to reduce the deficit to 17-12.

With both sides intent on attacking there was little time to draw breath.

Cinderford stretched their half-time advantage to 29-12 with Will Foden grabbing the bonus point try and Rob Winchle also crossing the whitewash. Rory Teague converted two of the five tries.

Blaydon regrouped at the break, knowing they needed the next score. They got the next two tries through Ben Morris and Chris Wearmouth to bring the game to the boil.

Cinderford went up another gear and played some fantastic rugby in the final quarter. Simeon James (2), Rory Teague and Mike Wilcox added further touchdowns, with playmaker Teague kicking a penalty and three more conversions for a personal tally of 23 points.
