Northern Senior League Division Two
Soudley 3
FC Barometrics 1
SOUDLEY manager Martin Stephens praised his team's performance against league leaders Barometrics.
He said: "We went into this game with six players missing through injury and unavailability. A lot of teams would have cancelled the game, but it's fortunate that we have a big squad.
"The lads put in a great team effort and on this performance we would be a match for anyone in the league. Unfortunately, we are inconsistent."
The home team bossed the first-half with Lewis, Anderson and Mason dominating in midfield.
However, Barometrics took the lead through Matthew Jaynes following good work from Lewis Peters.
Soudley enjoyed the lion's share of possession in the second-half, but needed keeper Simon Kear to make a fantastic save.
Left-back Mike Jones started the move that led to Soudley's equaliser.
Teddy Adams raced onto his pass, but was brought down in the box. Adams got up to coolly convert the spot-kick.
Adams scored again from a great Kristian Lewis pass, then Paul Johnson replaced Shaun Tingle to score the goal of the game.
Johnson went past three defenders on a fine solo run, before smashing a left-footed shot into the top corner.
Soudley controlled the remainder of the game with some neat passing and could have scored a fourth after Johnson was brought down in the penalty-area. This time, Adams saw his penalty kick hit the post.
