Redmarley v Lydney

A SLOW Redmarley wicket made scoring runs difficult for both sides, but Lydney always had the edge with skipper Ed Jones to the fore.

Redmarley put on 26 runs for the first wicket until Jones removed both openers. He trapped Toby Dudfield lbw, then had Stuart Hall caught at the wicket by Mark Bonser.

Redmarley collapsed from 38-1 to 114 all out with Ed Jones taking 3-15 from 10 overs, Will Jones picking up 3-20 from 10 overs and Paul Morris polishing up with 4-34 from nine overs. Pete Glynn also bowled 10 good overs for just 23 runs.

Paul Newbery top scored for Redmarley with 35 from 57 balls, but no one else passed 20.

Batting was still a tricky proposition when Lydney took to the crease. They lost Jake Bonser with the score on 14, then Will Jones and Bendall both fell with the score on 38.

A spell of 3-37 from spinner Newbery left Lydney tottering on 66-5, but Ed Jones struck 36 in 44 balls to take his side to the brink of victory. He was dismissed by James Holland three runs short of the target, but David Kear and Glynn finished the job off in the 35th over.

Kear played sensibly for his unbeaten 12 from 48 balls.
