TRIBUTES have been paid to a popular primary schoolteacher who died last weekend.
Mum-of-one Liz Waite died at home in Cinderford on Saturday.
An air ambulance landed on fields at Heywood leisure centre after being called out to reports of a woman suffering a suspected heart attack.
But the highly trained paramedics could not save Mrs Waite who is believed to have recently spent time in hospital with lung problems.
Devastated staff and pupils at Coalway Junior School were told of her death when they returned to school after half-term.
It is understood that the teacher, who was in her 30s, had been off work ill before the break.
Tests will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
