BERRY Hill angler Sam Hughes produced a winning performance in the Jones Cup match at Lightmoor.
Fishing sweetcorn close to the island, he netted several nice carp to run out a clear winner with 48lbs.
Sam recently came fourth in the national final of the Garbolino Club Angler of the Year contest.
Another angler moving up from the junior ranks, Cole Hamblett, came second with a nice bag of carp and ide caught on the waggler.
The Iffers Angling Club held a club match at Redhill Fishery, Monmouth.
Andy Prosser has had a lot of success recently on meat and method feeder but he reverted to his favoured paste fishing to take top spot with 126lbs on Sophie's Pool.
A few pegs to Andy's left was Alan 'Wolverine' Simmons, who howled his way to second spot just seven pounds behind the winner.
Andy's 15-year-old son Sam came third from peg eight.
This Sunday, the Royal Forest of Dean Angling Club is holding the Woolworth Cup at Steam Mills.
