SADIA Hameed, the multi-award winning spokesperson for the Council of Ex-Muslims of Britain, was the guest of honour at Dene Magna School’s annual acheivement evening this year.

The event recognises the efforts and progress of a vast number of students and staff at the Mitcheldean school.

Student of the Year was Macey Potter and Sadia Hameed was pleased to present her with her award.

Sadia spoke to the audience about her passion of human rights and, in particular, the rights of women in society. She has worked in the women’s sector, with a specialist focus on the issues faced by black and minority ethnic women, for the last 10 years.

She was the winner of the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation’s Activist of the Year and Lift Effect’s Star Award in 2017 for her work, campaigning against honour-based violence.
