WORK to repair the Drybrook Cutting – the main road linking parts of the Forest with Ross-on-Wye – has got underway.

The road has been closed since November 2012 following a landslide.

The repair project, which is estimated to cost £150,000, will see reinforced steel bars drilled into the slope and bedrock below the road for around 100m. Once this process has been completed the slope will be protected with steel mesh to guard against future erosion.

The road closure has diverted traffic via Mitcheldean, affecting many local businesses such as Hale & Co, who have been forced to send some of their lorries through Huntley.
