POLICE are investigating the death of a man in his 60s after a body was found at a quarry near Coleford this week.
The body was found at Stowfield Quarry between Coleford and Staunton late on Wednesday night (October 20), and officers remained at the scene on Thursday (October 21).
A statement from Gloucestershire Constabulary on Thursday afternoon said the man’s death was being treated as "unexplained but non-suspicious".
"Police are in attendance at Stowfield Quarry in Coleford in connection with the death of a man in his 60s", the statement said.
"Officers attended late last night (Wednesday) and the death is being treated as unexplained but non-suspicious.
"The coroner and man’s next of kin have been informed.
"The Health and Safety Executive has been notified."
