GLOUCESTERSHIRE'S Police and Crime Commissioner has dismissed claims by local councils over the future of policing in the Forest of Dean.

Commissioner Martin Surl said reports that he had gone back on his promise to retain Coleford Police Station were wrong and without foundation.

"I can assure people in the Forest of Dean that I am committed to ensuring they have an effective policing service," said Mr Surl.
