TWO popular Forest of Dean attractions have been shortlisted for honours at this year’s Gloucestershire Lifestyle & Community Awards 2026.

Beechenhurst has been nominated in the Family Day Out of the Year category, while the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre is in the running for Sporting Venue of the Year.

The awards, organised by SoGlos in partnership with Pro Global and Made in Gloucestershire, celebrate some of the county’s best attractions, businesses and community initiatives.

Both Forest sites are run by Forestry England and are among the most visited outdoor destinations in the district.

Beechenhurst, near Coleford, is a long-standing favourite with families and visitors to the Forest. The site features the popular Sculpture Trail, a children’s play area, woodland walking routes and a café.

Meanwhile, the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre has developed a national reputation as a major hub for off-road cycling in the South West. It offers purpose-built trails for riders of all abilities, from family-friendly loops and skills areas to more challenging blue, red and downhill tracks.

Emily Fergusson, recreation manager for Forestry England in the Forest of Dean, said the nominations were a boost for the team and visitors who enjoy the sites.

She said: “We’re thrilled to see Beechenhurst and the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre recognised among Gloucestershire’s best.

“From making lasting memories with friends and families to adrenaline-fuelled trail riding, our sites welcome everyone to enjoy the Forest of Dean all year round.

“A huge thank you to our teams, partners and visitors. We’d love your vote to help take us through to the finals.”

Members of the public can vote for the sites online until Sunday, March 29.

Finalists will be announced on Monday, April 13, with winners revealed at an awards evening at the Pittville Pump Room on Thursday, May 21.
