Gloucestershire County Council has issued a series of temporary road closure orders affecting multiple parishes across the Forest of Dean district this November, citing essential infrastructure works ranging from resurfacing to drainage and utility maintenance.
The most extensive disruption will occur in Ruspidge and Soudley Parish, where carriageway resurfacing will necessitate the closure of several roads, including the 403008 from Upper Soudley to Blackpool Bridge Junction and the 405008/403016 stretch from Bullocks Beech to Yew Tree Cottage. These closures are scheduled to begin on 10th November and are expected to conclude by November 14. However, the legal order allows for an extension of up to 18 months should delays arise.
Further closures are planned later in the month. In West Dean Parish, a 750-metre section of the C15 Lydney Road, between Hulks Farm and Badhamsfield, will be shut from November 25-27 for drainage works. Meanwhile, Blakeney Parish will see a short 25-metre closure on Bridge Street outside ‘The Miners’ on November 25-27 due to Severn Trent Water operations.
Cinderford Town will also be affected, with Mount Pleasant Road closed from No. 9 to No. 29 between November 24-28. In Longhope Parish, Barrel Lane will be closed for manhole lining works on November 25, from Greenacres to the nearby bridge.
Finally, in Newland and Staunton Parishes, tree cutting will prompt the closure of the C357 road from the County Boundary to Swanpool Wood and to ‘The Pump House’ on November 28, between 9:30and and 3:30 pm.
Throughout the duration of these works, no waiting, stopping, or loading will be permitted on affected roads. Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained, with escorts provided where necessary. Alternative routes will be clearly signed on site.
Residents and motorists are advised to consult the Gloucestershire County Council website or contact Gloucestershire Highways on 08000 514 514 for further details and updates.
These measures, though disruptive, are part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the region’s transport infrastructure, ensuring safer and more reliable routes for all road users.
