THE Proton Satria of Darren Pinchin & Karen Watts was the leading 1,400 finisher on last weekend's Malcolm Wilson Rally in Cumbria.

The pair (pictured) also came third in the 2WD race, picking up 22 vital championship points. The event was the second round of the 2011 BTRDA Championship.

Pinchin & Watts started well and led at the first service by seven seconds.

They got better and better, setting some fast times to extend their lead to 40 seconds by the second service.

Andy Burton & Robin Kellard (Peugeot Cosworth) followed up their Wyedean win with more success on the Malcolm Wilson – seven seconds in front of runners-up Roger Chilman & Andrew Sankey (Impreza).

Plenty of local crews tackled the Mid-Wales Stages last weekend.

Colin Webb & Matt Rogers (BMW 325) continued their fine start to the season with another class win. They were 21st overall after a faultless run.

Ben Williams & Russ Joseph (Lancer Evo 6) came home 18th, despite catching up with some slower cars and having their engine cut out on stage three.

Tim Freeman & Chris Butcher (Escort RS) suffered a puncture on stage three, but it didn't stop them returning second in class and 23rd overall.

Jason Morgan & Gareth Pritchard (Subaru) had to drive 17 miles without power steering when a pipe blew, but they still managed 29th overall.

Jason's father Bob had a disappointing day, retiring his Subaru with an oil leak at the start of stage two.

The historic event ran ahead of the main field. It was the opening round of the Dunlop/Wonago MSA Historic Championship.

Graham Waite & Gill Cotton (Volvo Amazon) came an impressive second, while Simon Tysoe & Cliff Simmons (Escort RS) produced another solid run into sixth spot. That earned them maximum Welsh Historic points.

Nick Painter & Will Rogers (Escort RS) booked 25th spot following a first stage puncture. Paul Gunter & Den Golding (Escort RS) were 26th with a trouble-free run.
