PERMISSION has been granted for a giant 87m wind turbine in Alvington. District planners turned down a bid by Resilient Energy to site the turbine at Alvington Court Farm, but a Planning Inspectorate has overruled that decision. Lydney councillor Alan Preest said: "It's very bad news and a kick in the teeth for local democracy. It makes a mockery of the Localism Act. When I was canvassing the area not one person was in favour of this development. There were 'stop turbine' stickers everywhere."
