THE FOREST of Dean is ‘a safe place to be’ compared with other similar regions of the UK, says the man in charge of keeping tabs on the Gloucestershire Constabulary.

But the county’s Police and Crime Commissioner Mr Martin Surl admits there are not enough officers in the Forest of Dean – or in major cities across the region – to deal with crime.
