BUSINESSMAN Brian Bennett has put forward controversial plans to build nearly 250 new homes on green fields at Lydney.
The Vantage Point boss is the director of a company set up by local landowners and builders to develop agricultural land off Allaston Road.
But critics say there are already too many new estates planned for Lydney and the town is becoming overdeveloped.
Residents living close to the development say it will spoil the area and clog up local roads.
Those living on Oak Meadow and Court Road are particularly upset about plans to create access points near their homes and the company have been told to take down a gate which has angered people living on Windsor Drive.
Bernard Baker is unhappy about development creeping up the hill towards his home on Driffield Road.
" Yet another piece of agricultural land will be lost to urban spread," he said.
