A NEWNHAM woman who twice failed to notify the police who was driving a Dacia car at the time of two alleged speeding offence has been disqualified from driving for six months and ordered to pay more than £550 in fines, costs and surcharges,

Jane Dowling, aged 51, of Popes Hill pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court to failing to give the required information to Gloucestershire Police.

She refused to give the identity of the driver of a Dacia Sandero that allegedly exceeded the 30mph limit  on the A48 outside Westbury Court Gardens on November  28 2020 and again on February 22 2021 in Cheltenham Road, Churchdown.

She denied both speeding offences and those charges were dismissed after the prosecution offered no evidence on them.

As well as the six months driving ban she was fined £160 on each of the two charges and ordered to pay £200 prosecution costs and a £34 victim services surcharge.
