MANY gardens are over by late summer, but a very special late summer stunner is opening this Sunday, August 20 as part of the National Open Garden Scheme.

The garden at The Gables located at Riverside Lane, Broadoak, Newnham on Severn, (GL14 1JE) has been created from scratch over the last decade or so, and has been designed to work across the seasons.

Its centrepiece is an egg-timer lawn, surrounded by perennial borders, full now of the Bambers’ favourite plants – Aster x frikartii ‘Monch’ and many different varieties of dahlias.

There’s also a wildflower area with soft and hard fruit, an allotment-sized vegetable plot, overflowing with produce in late August.

Visit this garden between 11am and 5pm for a real late-summer treat.
