NEWENT outplayed Corse & Staunton with bat and ball to comprehensively win this derby by 84 runs.
Tom Morley struck 11 fours in a knock of 78 and the consistent Morgan Evans hit nine fours in his innings of 56 as Newent rattled up 264-8 from their 45 overs. Mike Gittings was the pick of the Corse attack with 3-44.
Corse needed a good start with the bat if they were to mount a challenge but they failed to get it as Aaron Roberts snared two early wickets. Paul Tyrer dug in for 54 not out, but the match petered out tamely with Corse closing well short on 180-7. Aaron Roberts returned figures of 3-42 and spinner Simon Gayther 3-44.
