CAMPAIGNERS fighting to stop the Forest from being sold-off say there are new threats lurking on the horizon.

And the HOOF steering group will be meeting this week to plot a renewed campaign.

Three years ago, on January 3, 2011, more than 3,000 people gathered during a blizzard on the field at Speech House to send a message to the Government: the Forest of Dean belongs to us and we will not allow it to be sold off, disposed or transferred to private hands.

The Hands off Our Forest (HOOF) campaign group was formed.

Six weeks later, the Government back-tracked – but HOOF remains, and chairman Richard Daniels insists 'new predators' now need to be fought.
