TWENTY-two-year-old Fraser Drew (pictured) is the new coach of Lydney Tennis Club.
Originally from Scotland, Fraser started playing tennis when he was seven and living in Southport.
He moved to the Forest in 2001 and attended Lakers School.
He honed his tennis skills in the successful Saturday morning classes run by Chris Davies and Bas Godden on the Lakers site.
Fraser qualified as a coach himself and began helping run some of the sessions. He gained more experience coaching in summer camps in America and is currently working at the Oxstalls Centre in Gloucester.
He takes over as Lydney club coach from Tim Smart, who has moved abroad.
Fraser said: "More players are starting to feed through to the club from the classes run by Chris and Bas. It's something I'm keen to develop.
"There are some excellent young players around and it would be good to get them playing in some of our teams.
"We have a strong junior section with more than 50 players and 60 plus adults."
Fraser has passed the RPT Mark of a Pro Plus qualification (Registro Profesional de Tenis).
This course was developed from the successful Spanish coaching system, a key feature in the rise of the game in Spain in the last 10-15 years.
Fraser has played for Lydney Tennis Club teams in the Gloucestershire Summer League since the age of 14.
He is the reigning singles champion at the club.
His other sporting interests include kickboxing and kite boarding.
