Neighbours on a small private estate in Longhope have closed ranks against a plan to build a 'ghetto' of 16 affordable homes on their doorstep.

Two Rivers Housing Association intends to build the homes on the Wend, a quiet leafy cul-de-sac off Church Road.

The plan includes six, one bed flats, seven, two bed homes and

three, three bed homes – all to be classed as affordable.

Forest of Dean District Planning Committee has now approved the application subject to conditions.

But, the application has sparked a storm of protest, generating nearly 58 letters of objection from nearby residents, listing a total of 90 different 'concerns'.
