POLICE are urging witnesses to come forward after a man suffered serious injuries in the early hours of Sunday morning, either in or outside the Swan Hotel in Lydney.

A 39-year-old man from Aylburton was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, suffering from a broken leg and a puncture wound to the back.

Initially, it had been claimed that a stabbing had taken place, but police found no evidence to back that up and do not believe a weapon was used.

Two teenagers, aged 18 and 17, both from Lydney, were arrested but subsequently released on police bail. They are expected back at Gloucester Police Station on August 11.
