A 40-year-old Lydney woman has been charged with attempting to murder another woman in the town and has been remanded in custody to await jury trial.

Joanna Mammatt of Queen Street, Lydney, appeared before Cheltenham magistrates on Monday, May 29 accused of trying to kill Hannah Gwynn in Lydney the previous day, May 28.

She was also charged with having a kitchen knife with her in public in Queen Street on the same date.

The magistrates directed jury trial and remanded her in custody to make her first appearance before Gloucester Crown Court  on June 23.
