LYDNEY Town Band held a celebration of its successes and progress over the last 12 months with a special concert.

The concert, in front of a large audience at Lydney Town Hall, featured the senior band, training band and starter band.

It was the first time the starter band – which has musicians who have been playing for little as six months – had taken part in the annual concert.

The senior band played pieces which they will take to the Wychavon Festival of Brass where they were Third Section champions in 2024 and 2025.

The concert also featured the premiere of two pieces by Town Band conductor Dr Thomas Dunne based on the Anglo Saxon epic Beowulf.
