National Two South
Lydney 20
Launceston 22
WHEN Nick Selway crashed over for a late try it looked like Lydney had pulled victory out of the jaws of defeat yet again.
However, Launceston struck back with an injury-time penalty from Kieron Lewitt that incensed the home officials.
Alan Bryant made a strong debut in the centre for Lydney following his switch from Cinderford, while Will Kane filled in at scrum-half.
The home side made a decent start to the game but found themselves 19-6 down after 53 minutes, conceding three tries. Tony Wicks kicked two penalties for the hosts.
Tim Longton's touchdown, converted by Wicks, brought the home crowd to life, as the new Regentsholme floodlights, just like the team, kicked into life.
An enthralling finish followed with both sides clearly fired up.
Selway forced his way over from a penalty line-out and Wicks added the conversion to seemingly settle the match.
However, Launceston refused to give up and went through the phases before getting a last-gasp reward.
