A LYDNEY mother of six, who suffers from a rare medical condition, has gone from unemployment to opening her own shop in just five years.

In 2010, Carla Green, was unemployed and struggling with a difficult pregnancy while expecting her daughter Teagan.

Carla has suffered from a condition that can force her into premature labour at any moment during her pregnancy. This has happened ever since she gave birth to her first son Nico,

The condition meant that her husband couldn't work and had to to stay at home and look after Carla and their two children.

Mrs Green said: "I had a very difficult pregnancy. My condition meant I could go into premature labour. I had surgery done to my womb 14 weeks into my pregnancy and needed to be cared for. I couldn't stand up for more than 20 minutes at a time because it could make me go into premature labour. Because my husband had to be there for me he couldn't work either.

As well as bringing up her own four children, Carla also fosters two other children.

She said: "I had lost three babies because they were born premature. Two boys and a girl. I decided to keep trying. I wasn't going to give up on having my babies.

After giving birth to Teagan, Carla decided to bake cakes to make a living.
