Lydney Town 2
Tytherington Rocks 3
LEAGUE leaders Tytherington condemned Lydney to their fourth defeat in five games at The Rec on Monday.
Town looked nervous from the kick-off and should have gone behind inside five minutes. Somehow, a Rocks attacker contrived to head a corner wide when unmarked six yards out.
Tytherington dominated the opening 20 minutes without really threatening Lydney's goal. Defender Luke Barker did some sterling work.
Town conceded on the stroke of the half-time whistle. Paul Simpson failed miserably with his attempt to catch a free-kick and Colbourne stooped to head home.
In the second half Tytherington continued to have most of the ball, but Town's defence generally coped quite well, with Barker still to the fore.
Declan Morley-Lynes replaced Robbins on 58 minutes and the youngster put in his best display in a first-team shirt.
Tytherington went 2-0 up on 78 minutes.
A corner from the left was headed back across goal and Marc Hughes scored with a spectacular overhead kick.
Lydney reduced the arrears with 10 minutes to go.
Following a break down the left, Mark Lee played in Harvey Brown, whose run and first time cross was palmed onto the bar by Beavis. Adam Price reacted the quickest to smash the ball in.
The good work was undone almost immediately when some poor defending let in Colbourne for his second goal of the afternoon.
Town scored again on 85 minutes when Sam Elliott climbed highest to head in a Ricky Elliott free-kick.
In a rousing finish it looked like Lydney would snatch a point when Morley-Lynes was bundled over inside the box two minutes from time.
The ref pointed to the spot, but the usually reliable Mark Lee saw his penalty pushed away by Beavis.
