IT was another booming success for Lydney as its annual fireworks display coloured the skies above, much to the delight of guests.
Hundreds gathered at Bathurst Park, which saw queues form from its 5.30pm gate opening.
Food and drink was on offer from businesses including WoodFired Pizza and Freeman’s Amusements, while Star Lights helped keep guests shining all night. Music performances came from Me and Em, and Heavy Rain.

Cllr Tasha Saunders, Mayor of Lydney Town Council said: “It’s always wonderful to see so many families and members of our community coming together to enjoy our annual fireworks event at Bathurst Park. For the second year running, we have held two separate displays, giving people the choice of a lower-noise, gentler firework show before our more traditional, larger display later in the evening.
“Inclusivity is really important to us, and we want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the event, including those who may find the louder bangs of traditional fireworks difficult.
“As someone who is usually busy behind the scenes during the event, I rarely get the opportunity to actually watch the fireworks myself, so it was lovely to get home and see some of the fantastic drone footage captured by members of the public. It really gave me the chance to appreciate what everyone else had enjoyed.
“We had a record number of people through the gates this year, and I'm absolutely delighted that the event continues to grow year on year. The more successful it becomes, the more we can reinvest into the fireworks and the overall experience, helping us make each year bigger and better.
“My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who came along and supported the event, and especially to all our traders, volunteers, trustees and staff who worked so hard behind the scenes to make it happen. I'm incredibly proud that we delivered another fantastic evening, with no major issues, and most importantly, so many happy families making memories together.”

Many happy guests later expressed their joy of the event’s success via social media and said they were looking forward to next year.
