YOUNG singers could have a starring role in the next series of Netflix smash Sex Education.

The global hit series filmed in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean is on the lookout for a choir whose members are aged 18 to 25, as well as young extras to stand in the background while Otis and Maeve continue their on-off relationship.

The show features sex therapist Dr Jean Milburn, played by Gillian Anderson, and her repressed teenage son Otis, played by Asa Butterfield, and locations like their Symonds Yat East Swiss-style home overlooking the River Wye.

Filming for the next season was put back from April due to the Coronavirus outbreak, but is expected to start again soon if it is to be broadcast again in January.

Mad Dog 2020 Casting has put out an appeal for extras, posting: “Seeking a real choir for Sex Education series 3.

“Playing ages 18-25. Must be local or able to travel to South Wales. Seeking clips of performances.

“Vocal ensembles such as gospel, a capella and traditional all welcome to apply.”

Asa Butterfield says filming will begin again soon, but doesn’t know how shooting intimate scenes will work with different lockdown restrictions in England and Wales. One option might even see the cast having to be quarantined.

He told the Deadline website: “It’s quite hard to keep the two-metre distance when you’re kissing someone or doing anything else. I’m sure that’s something they have realised.

“As well as that, when you’re on a set making film and TV, there are so many parts to this machine.

“It will make it incredibly difficult to enforce a rule around quarantine, but you have to because this virus is going to be around for ages.

“Luckily that’s not my job to figure those things out.”

And also told Screendaily: “The foundation of this show is relationships, friendships, and intimacy, and it gives such a positive message.

“Otis and Eric are always hugging and jumping around – we can’t change that. I would rather we all quarantined and we keep the heart of the show than lose that.”

Sony Pictures Television have said they hope to start filming this month.
