THE golden oldies of Rank Outsiders expect to be given the runaround when they take on Aston Villa's Old Stars at Cinderford Town's Causeway Ground this Sunday (2pm KO).

Ranks secretary Richard Bennett said: "This will be the fourth occasion in as many years that we have been granted the great privilege of hosting the Aston Villa Old Stars, widely regarded as being the very best ex-professional team in the whole of the UK.

"These charity matches reveal far more about Villa than their football skills.

"None of them are paid to play and they all give up their time voluntarily in order to raise money for those less fortunate than themselves."

Indeed, since the inception of the Old Stars team in 1960, they have raised more than £4 million for various charities. Richard Bennett added: "While we may lack the calibre of Villa we certainly don't lack an appetite for these occasions."

The match will be especially poignant for Ranks player Ivor Morgan, who is retiring after the match.

Though well known on the grass-roots football scene, Ivor is probably just as famous for his Candy Pink Poodle Parlour discos.

"I can't think of a better way for him to bow out," said Bennett.

"I know I speak for everyone at Ranks when I say it's about time!

"Seriously though, we do owe him an awful lot for all the hard work he's put into the club over the years."

Villa won their last clash with Outsiders by 10-1. Former European Cup winner Tony Morley (pictured on ball) scored two of the goals.

Admission for the match is just £3 (£1 concessions) with proceeds going towards the British Heart Foundation, Tiny Tickers, Cardiac Risk in the Young and Heart UK.
