A YORKLEY woman, whose dog is lucky to be alive after being attacked by a wild boar, believes the woods are no longer safe places to walk.

Despite living in a village surrounded by forest tracks, Jane Morse now takes her dog for walks near Lydney Docks for safety reasons.

On New Year's Eve, Jane's husband was walking their dog Lilly along a track near Yorkley when a wild boar emerged from the undergrowth. The boar attacked the dog, injuring her front leg and belly.

Jane said: "It was an area where we've been walking the dog for more than six years. We'd seen evidence of boar activity, but had never witnessed one."
