PRO boxer Chris Higgs (pictured) is being lined up for his break into the big time with a slot on Sky Television's Prize Fighter.
Prize Fighter is a blood and thunder boxing tournament that takes eight hungry fighters and gives them the chance to slug it out for a £30,000+ first prize on a single night.
The brainchild of leading sports promoter Barry Hearn, eight up-and-coming boxers compete in four quarter-finals of 3x3 minute rounds followed by two semi-finals and the final.
Many previous Prize Fighter winners have gone on to bigger and better things, such as super featherweight winner Gary Buckland, who is now the British champion.
The programme has been a major ratings winner with TV audiences. Chris's father Bryan Higgs said: "Chris is just waiting for his place on Prize Fighter to be confirmed for February 11 in Wolverhampton.
"It would be the biggest thing he has done but he will have to get down to a weight of around 10stone 2lbs because he's been put forward for the light welterweight category."
Before Chris can think about his TV debut he's got to focus on fighting this Saturday night at the Chippenham Olympiad.
His opponent will be the experienced Jason Nesbitt, who has had more than 100 fights in a long career.
Chris has been training for the fight by sparring with British champ Lee Selby.
Former Lydney boxer Mikey Biggs is also set to make his pro debut on the Chippenham show.
