UNPAID carers across Gloucestershire can now get simplified and fast help to find local information and support through a new WhatsApp tool.

Gloucestershire County Council developed “Ask Grace” to give carers fast access to trusted information and guidance, whenever they need it. Using AI, it responds to messages and guides people to relevant local services and support, saving time searching online or making multiple calls.

The council said the tool brings together key information in one place, helping carers feel more confident about where to turn for help and freeing up valuable time to focus on the person they care for.

Councillor Dr Kate Usmar, Cabinet Member for Adults’ Support and Independence at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “We know unpaid carers do so much, often with little time to find the support that’s right for them.

"Ask Grace is designed to make that easier - giving people quick, direct access to reliable information and local services through WhatsApp. It’s been developed alongside carers to make sure it’s simple, useful and can genuinely make a difference. I’d encourage carers across Gloucestershire to give it a try.”

Gloucestershire County Council said that many people don’t always recognise themselves as carers, but if a person is helping a family member, friend or neighbour with day-to-day tasks, appointments or emotional support, that means they are a carer.

The council said the tool has been shaped and tested with carers and local partners to make sure it is easy to use, practical and responsive to real-life needs.

You can use the tool now. To start a conversation, save the mobile number 07418 640 456 into your phone and message “Hi Grace” using WhatsApp.
