PLANS to install a giant wind turbine on the edge of Coleford have been rejected by a planning inspector.

Local businessman Ronald Kear sought planning permission for a 270ft high wind turbine at his nephew's Poolway Farm.

However, local residents were unhappy with the turbine proposals and formed an action group against the £1.4 million green energy development.

The Forest of Dean District Council refused the original application, because of the visual effect on the local landscape and other recreational considerations.
