FURTHER inspection work has taken place on the Old Wye Bridge between Tutshill and Chepstow.

The 210-year-old bridge was closed in October last year after a routine inspection revealed structural damage but later re-opened for pedestrians.

The inspection involved specialists using ropes from the side of the bridge to assess the structure.

A statement by Monmouthshire County Council said: “We are expecting minor disruption on the bridge footway between 8am and 5pm from 21 to 24 September while asset inspectors carry out essential inspection work using rope access from the side of the bridge.

The footway will remain open throughout the inspection period, but some minor disruption may occur.

“The inspection team will do everything possible to keep any disruption to a minimum.”
