ALL the Western Democracies are in a Global Recession and many European countries are bankrupt including Britain. Thus the UK is selling its Forests to private enterprise.

The last time this was done to the Forest of Dean was in the 17th century, when the King gave the Forest to Sir John Wintour. He chopped half of it down to feed his Iron Ore Furnaces for charcoal. The result was riots and violence.

Now a similar problem is liable to occur. Forest land will be destroyed in order to create housing estates.

Although I still retain British citizenship there is little I can do from where I am. My advice is for you to take a stand. The Forest is your heritage and a birthright. Do not surrender that without a fight. Write letters to the newspapers and organise resistance as much as you can. I am a born and bred Forester who has an MA in Forestry from the University of Oxford. That may carry some weight.
