FOUR residents from the Forest of Dean have been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours List for their outstanding contributions to local life.
The honours are an annual tradition recognising individuals across the United Kingdom for their exceptional service and contributions to society.
Awards are given to people from all walks of life who have made a positive impact in their communities, professions, or public life. They celebrate dedication, achievement, and acts of service that enrich the nation and local areas alike.
Councillor Tim Gwilliam, who has represented the Berry Hill ward since 2013, has been honoured for services to the community in the Forest of Dean.
A district councillor for over a decade and former leader of Forest of Dean District Council, Cllr Gwilliam has been a prominent figure in local politics and known for championing grassroots issues across the district.
Also recognised is Caroline Young, a Wellbeing and Benefits Advisor with Lydcare. Based in Lydney, Ms Young was honoured for her dedicated work supporting vulnerable residents and helping to improve wellbeing across the area.
In Blakeney, Elizabeth Fordham has been celebrated for her tireless community efforts, including her role as one of the leaders behind the campaign to reinstate the village playground. Her work helped restore a vital facility for families and children in the area.
Margaret Fuller, of Tutshill, has been recognised for her contributions to the Royal Society of St George and to the community in Gloucestershire.
As secretary of the society’s Gloucestershire branch, she plays a key role in promoting Englishness and the English way of life, and is well known locally for her involvement in community and civic life.
The awards shine a light on the dedication and commitment of local people working quietly but powerfully to improve life across the Forest of Dean.
