THE FOREST of Dean could experience a third heatwave of the year next week, according to the Met Office.
However, while temperatures are expected to rise, experts say it is unlikely to reach the high temperatures and humidity of last week.
This week, the Forest is experiencing relief from the heatwave, with pleasant summer temperatures in the low to mid 20 degrees Celsius.
Tony Wisson, Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster, said: “Toward the weekend, high pressure will continue to build in across most of the UK as it extends from the Azores. This will lead to more settled, warm or very warm conditions for many, especially across England and Wales, though some rain may still affect the far north.”
The heatwave last week saw parts of the Forest reach the high 30 degrees Celsius - equating to a red weather warning from the Met Office.
It led to the postponement of the Forest of Dean District Council meeting which was due to debate plans for 13,600 homes, and a motion on the controversial Forest of Dean Unesco biosphere proposal.
Whilst the Met Office does not expect extreme heat next week, it still provides advice for how to stay cool in the heat.
It suggests you keep out of the sun and avoid any exercise between 11am to 3pm, usually when the sun is the strongest.
When going out, it recommends you use sunscreen and wear a hat. It added you should drink plenty of fluids, and take water with you if you decide to head out. The Met Office also suggested you close your curtains in rooms that face the sun.
