PARTS of Minsterworth, Westbury-on-Sever, Newnham and Broadoak suffered some of the worst flooding this district has seen in years on Friday when the River Severn burst its banks.

Residents and workers from the Highways and Environment Agencies literally battled against the tide, as a tidal surge on the Severn clashed with an in-sweeping Severn Bore.

Lydbrook and Lydney were among the areas also hit by the poor weather as residents battled against flood water over the Christmas and New Year period.
