FIVE people in Coleford have been arrested in connection with the seizure of cannabis.

Police officers were on foot patrol near Bowen's Hill when they spotted a group of people acting suspiciously at the side of the road.

Three women and two men were then stopped, searched and arrested in connection with drugs offences.

A 24-year-old woman and an 18-year-old woman from Coleford, a 19-year-old woman from Lydbrook and two Coleford men aged 25 and 22 were arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug with intent to supply and bailed to attend Gloucester Police Station on December 14, pending further inquiries.

Amongst the items confiscated by police as part of the investigation were nine wraps of cannabis, mobile phones, £120 in cash and a ledger.

Forest Police Inspector Richard Boyles said: "Thanks to the vigilance of a PC and a new Special Constable on one of her first days of duty, we were able to take these drugs off the streets.

"If you have information about drugs crime in the community I hope this will encourage you to come forward with information and send a clear signal to those involved that it won't be tolerated in the Forest."
