EMYR Davies and Jess Stone took the top podium spots at the latest 661 Mini Downhill event in Cannop.

There was a great turnout of riders, eager to use the Corkscrew track for the first time.

James Whitby, featured in last week's Forester after having his £6,000 black Santa Cruz V-10 bike stolen, came third in the Youth section on a borrowed bike.

Mini downhill is essentially for people new to the sport of mountain bike racing.

Organiser Chris Roberts said: "There are loads of people who ride around the area that have never raced, so we have brought a race to their local track. The course is fun and flowing to ride but a real challenge to ride flat out on the limit."

The next 661 Series event at the Pedalabikeaway Centre in Cannop is on February 20.
