RESIDENTS of Lakeside Avenue in Lydney were close to disaster following torrential rain that hit the flood-risk estate on Saturday.
Rose Christodoulides said that Colin Legg, who works tirelessly to maintain the culvert behind his home during heavy rain, 'risked his life' trying to ensure properties along Lakeside Avenue didn't flood.
"We had a serious threat on Saturday morning, and I mean serious," she told Lydney Town Council.
"We were on the brink of it. Colin was on that trash green risking his life, because if he had slipped the force that it was coming down was extreme.
