A FOREST-based broadcaster’s film about growing up in rural Gloucestershire is enjoying a second run thanks to video-sharing website YouTube.

Eric Freeman’s film A Legend in These Parts has racked up more than 600 views since it was posted online a fortnight ago.

When it was first launched in 2015 local rural charities and good causes benefitted from the sale of the DVDs in Newent shops and at various village hall screenings in the district.

It was produced locally by Tish and Tim Rickard of Prospero Productions.

In the introduction to the 45-minute film on YouTube, Mr Rickard said: "Eric invites you to share the Gloucestershire countryside inspired by his wealth of memories of a country childhood and a lifetime farming in and around Newent.

"He celebrates the revival of our county’s special rare breeds, traditional cidermaking, ploughing with horses, the and harvest home."

The film is split into 14 "chapters" covering such as the wassail - the traditional celebration of the countryside - winter work, May Hill May Day and farming in the pre-war era.

Appearing in the film are Rosealeen Lane, Vernon Harwood, Jeremy Chamberlayne, John Parslow, Ben Evans, Jonathan Crump, Clifford Freeman, Albert Rixen, Peter Symonds, Canon John Evans and David Blick.

The musicians are John Barker, Gillian and Rob Guest, Tess Hunt, May Thrill, Christine Reynolds and Glyn Watson with additional music by David Blick

It features Morris dancing sides Forest of Dean Morris, Wild Oats, Lassington Oak, England’s Glory Ladies and Faithful City.
