DRINKERS had to be evacuated from a Mitcheldean pub when a fire broke out in the kitchen.
Two fire crews from Cinderford were called to The Lamb at 6pm on Monday when a chip pan caught fire.
Jason Meek, whose mum and stepfather run the pub, said: "I was told there was black smoke coming out of the pub so I rushed down.
"My mum was already outside and my stepdad had a go at fighting the fire.
"The kitchen is damaged but no one was hurt and that's the main thing."
Jason's stepdad was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but was otherwise uninjured.
Station manager Nathan Bishop from Gloucester said: "When we got to the scene we found the kitchen heavily smoke-logged, with some of it still on fire." They spent an hour at the scene.
