ANDY Deacon dubbed the display of his Cinderford pack against Birmingham as 'very poor' and 'out of character' – and he's demanding an instant improvement at home to Blackheath this week (3pm).

Neither side has yet to win a game this season.

Deacon (pictured) pulled no punches when assessing Cinderford's latest defeat.

He said: "I was bitterly disappointed with the forwards and I told them so. We struggled to win tidy ball. We seemed to labour, the scrum wasn't stable and we didn't have the ability to change the point of our attack.

"We kept trying to do the same things when we needed to change tactics.

"It just wasn't like us. If we had played anything like we did against Fylde we would have won."

The consolation for Cinderford was that despite being starved of decent ball they scored two good tries through Nev Codlin.

Deacon said: "The backs were OK. We know we've got to improve this week and I'm confident we will. If I thought we didn't have the players to cope at this level I'd be worried, but I know we do.

"I still believe we're a good side but we need to find some consistency."
