A 30-year-old Newent man who sent an indecent or grossly offensive email to a woman has been handed a conditional discharge by Cheltenham Magistrates’.

Christopher Forrester of Watery Lane, Newent, pleaded guilty to sending the message in breach of the Malicious Communications Act on 25th September last year.

The court gave him a 12 months conditional discharge and made no order for him to pay any costs or surcharges on the grounds that he is of limited means and is currently a hospital in-patient.
