FORMER Lydney coach Paul Williams (pictured) will head up a strong Gloucestershire coaching team for this year's County Championship.
Williams will work with former Gloucester prop Tony Windo and ex-Cinderford scrum-half Paul Knight. Paul Morris will serve as team manager.
Gloucestershire lost in the Twickenham final last year to Lancashire, with a team built around Cinderford players.
However, they might have to do without the likes of Nev Codlin, Ed King, Sam Wilkes, Chris McNeil, Danny Trigg and Sam Wilkes this year.
Gloucestershire will not play any warm-up games before hosting Kent on May 7 and Cornwall on May 14. They visit Hertfordshire on May 21.
However, Cinderford have rearranged home matches on both May 7 (Cambridge) and May 21 (Wharfedale).
Lydney's players should be available to the county as their last game of the season is on April 30.
Williams said: "We've already had a meeting to identify some of the players we would like to see involved and we're putting out the feelers to see if they are interested.
"We're ambitious for this year and still hurting from the disappointment of losing in the final last season, particularly as we know we didn't play to our potential.
"On reflection we probably didn't have enough experience on the park. Only six of the players had played more than 50 league games and on a stage as big as Twickenham you need players with experience."
Williams says he wants to draw primarily on players from the Championship, National One and National Two.
"We're all keeping our fingers crossed that this mild spell continues as it should mean more of the players we want are available to us.
"There's always uncertainty around player availability with some being involved in promotion play-offs later in the season, but this is a complication and it's pretty frustrating."
