The Coleford Music Festival returned last weekend to huge acclaim from audiences and performers.

The festival’s trademark mix of electic styles was on full show as large audiences bopped along to the music.

Berry Hill Band opened proceedings on the clock tower stage and there followed something for all tastes.

Among the other performers on Saturday afternoon were the Forest Community Choir, local African drumming group Djabot and the Forest of Dean Morris.

There was an enthusiastic response to the Dynamite Shakers, a high-energy rock quartet from Coleford’s twin town of St Hilaire de Riez.

Coleford’s Mayor Nick Penny, who is also part of the voluntary team which organises the music festival, heared the group when he was in France and was keen to have them perform in the Forest.

Also among the Saturday highlights were The Bohemians who brought their own brand of Freddie Mercury and Queen magic.

In Newland Street there was a chance to hear the best in localroots and folk with acts such as Forest music scene stalwart Alex Davies and the No Parkin’ Rhythm and Blues Band.

With stages also in St John Street and the Angel Hotel, the festival provided an insight into the vibrant local music scene.

A festival spokesperson said: “A massive thank you to everyone who attended the event, but an even bigger thank you to the entire team behind CMF for making it such a fantastic come back.”
