A CONCLUSION of accidental death has been recorded on a 94-year-old widower who died on Christmas Eve, a week after falling down stairs.
Ronald Wilson of Woodgate Road, Five Acres, Coleford, was found lying on his kitchen floor on December 16 by a neighbour, the Gloucester inquest was told.
Mr Wilson, who lived alone, died eight days later in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital from bronchial pneumonia caused by a bleed on the brain which resulted from the fall, said assistant county coroner Roland Wooderson. Mr Wilson was also suffering from Alzheimer’s and frailty.
A report from the South West Ambulance Service said the crew which went to his home were told he lived alone and had fallen at about 2am. Cameras in his home confirmed the time of the incident.
Neighbours had found him on the kitchen floor with blood around his head.
The assistant coroner for Gloucestershire, Roland Wooderson said “It is clear that very sadly he suffered a fall at his home and as a result of injuries sustained he was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where he passed away.”
The neighbour, Bridget Tillings, attended the inquest and was thanked by the coroner for her kind care for him.
