COALWAY father Will James, 41, was killed, following an accident on one of the Dean's busiest roads, between Brierley and Mireystock.

His friend Dave Leyland Thornton, 43, is in Frenchay Hospital, suffering from head, pelvic and arm injuries.

They were involved in a collision with a BMW on May 9. The driver of the BMW 320 Series, a 65-year-old man from Longhope, escaped injury but his female passenger was treated in hospital for hand injuries.

Shocked Denise Hogan was on the way back from a college course when she came across the scene of the the accident, near the entrance to the Great Berry Quarry.

"It was awful," she said.

"I just completely freaked and I still can't get it out of my head."
